Berber Carpet

Berber Carpet – is Berber carpet right for your home?

Berber carpet is a style of carpet that was named after a textured wool made by the berber tribe in a region of North Africa. Today, Berber carpet is used to describe any large, heavy broad loom that is naturally off white or light beige.

Berber carpet most often uses speckled yarns in a loop pattern to create an easily identifiable pattern. Berber carpet is usually (check with your manufacturer) made of a non-toxic, non-allergenic, non-bacterial wool that is perfect for use in your home or office. Berber carpet forms millions of dense air pockets that cushion your steps but also helps insulate and regulate room temperature. Most carpet is also very easy to clean and durable. Berber typically doesn’t show footprints or vacuum lines. Overall, this is a great choice for your home, playroom, office, den and any other place you expect foot traffic and want a great looking carpet!

Why Choose Berber Carpets?

There are a lot of benefits for choosing Berber carpet. This is more durable than basically any other carpet on the market. Berber fiber is tightly weaved together which makes food and dirt particles essentially sit on the top of the carpet; the particles cannot embed themselves deep in the Berber carpet—as it does in other carpet—which makes vacuuming up messes on Berber carpet much easier. The dirt and dust that lands on the Berber carpet is trapped by the loops (until you vacuum) which decreases the amount of allergens and dust that is the air. Berber also has Nylon fiber, which is highly resilience and springs back into place; Nylon also very resistant to stains and mildew. Berber carpet comes in a variety of colors and variations of texture which also makes it appealing to the buyer. Another great thing about Berber is that it’s wonderful for areas that have high traffic. This also makes Berber Carpet not only ideal in homes, but other areas like offices and schools because of its durability.

Is Berber the Best Carpet?

Berber is definitely one of the most versatile types of carpet on the market, which in my opinions makes it one of the best. There are downsides to all kinds of carpets, but the benefits to Berber carpet seem to greatly outweigh the negatives, which isn’t true of most other carpets. One thing that makes Berber carpet great is that it is built to help keep the heat inside the house while at the same time providing sound insulation. Another thing that is great about Berber is that it doesn’t show vacuum lines, so there is no need to vacuum constantly; it appears clean. This is definitely beneficial to a family that is constantly on the run who doesn’t have time to vacuum everyday.

What are the Negatives of Berber Carpet?

There are a couple things to consider when buying Berber carpet. The first thing is that it isn’t as plush as other carpets. As I stated before, this is why it is so good at repealing dirt and food particles; however, it’s not as soft to walk on. This also can be fixed by having a thicker carpet pad or buying the higher priced Berber. The other negative thing about Berber carpet is that when it does stain, it’s more difficult to clean. Berber carpet is excellent at repealing things, even liquids, however if they’re not cleaned up immediately and stain, scrubbing them is difficult. The tightly knit fibers make it hard to clean every angle perfectly. However, when you use a carpet shampooer on your Berber carpets, the stains come up much more easily compared to other types of carpet.

Is Berber Carpet Cheap?

Berber carpet is one of the cheaper priced carpets out on the market right now. However, that’s not to say it is bad carpet. In fact, Berber carpet is the most purchased carpet on the market right now. What makes it the cheapest is because it is so widely distributed and mass produced by scores of companies around the world. With all of this said, there are some pretty expensive carpets, the price is usually based on the amount of loop density per square meter.

Should I Buy Expensive Berber Carpet?

Expensive Berber carpet can be a great investment, not only does Berber have great durability it can come in a wide variety of colors, patterns, feels, and options. The more expensive the Berber carpet, the more ‘luxurious’ it will feel, meaning it will feel much more soft than the run of the mill Berber carpet.

Berber carpet is a fine choice when it comes to carpeting any room in your home or office as it is cheap, reliable, and comes in a plethora of different options to suit any style.
