One of the best things about buying carpet at some retailers is the discounts they offer on things like installation and quotes. Many carpet companies charge large amounts for installing the carpet you’ve purchased and some even charge you for coming out to your house and giving you an estimate.
I shopped around plenty before I decided on carpet. What I found was that some carpet seemed quite a bit cheaper than other places. For example at a local carpet place, the carpet I was looking at was $0.30 cheaper per square foot and considering the carpeted portions in my house is approximately 1400 square foot, I would saving around $420, but when I was told that installation would be around $450 and the estimate would cost me too, I had to do some recalculating.
I realized I was far better off going with the more expensive carpet because I would save money once you factored in the price of the installation and the quote. As I said, it is best to shop around and get some free estimates, that’s the only way to know for sure what is the best deal. Shopping around can potentially save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars depending on how big your house is and what type of carpet you purchase.
